PASHAN GARH'S NATURALISTS GET DOWN & DIRTY

The naturalist team at Pashan Garh are learning a new skill - building a lodge! Shree has taken charge of 20 donkeys and labourers, while Hada has a tractor and trailer with a team of builders. They both clear rubble from the site and replant any trees damaged by the building process.

Ratna (India’s first trained female naturalist – and &Beyond’s first female head naturalist) has taken over the management of “Bombay” (the temporary builder’s village) which is home to 500 stone masons and builders. Ratna and her team ensure that “Bombay” has sufficient clean water, and rubbish bins. Ratna, Shree and Hada are also created a water recycling system to recycle the grey water from the staff village and use it to water the vegetable garden. Great team work!

Our full time, naturalist (ranger) training school, situated on the border of Kanha National Park, is busy training our newest recruits. This is one of three that &Beyond runs – we have one in South Africa, and another in Tanzania, all staffed by highly experienced specialist trainers. Our naturalists have initiated a project to help the local park guides with their training, and benefit by exchanging knowledge.
