A Day At Meghauli Serai
Arrive at Tribhuvan
International airport, Kathmandu. You can chose to stop over and visit the cultural and spiritual treasures this ancient Hindu city has to offer - Pashupati
Nath temple with its distinctive gilded rooftop stands by the Bagmati river.
The Boudhanath Stupa is a UNESCO World Heriatge site and the largest
temple in Nepal. Durbar (Palace) Square remains the tourist heart of Kathmandu - Hanuman Dhoka and Kasthamandap are a must see.The drive from Kathmandu to
Chitwan through the middle hills of Nepal and along the Trishuli River (popular with the rafting community) will take approximately 4.5 hours. You may instead
chose to take a short domestic flight to Bharatpur and set course on a hour's drive to reach Meghauli Serai Chitwan.
The Meghauli Serai team will
greet you with their traditional wave, refreshing cold towels and ice-cold lemon grass drinks. You will be escorted to your luxurious villas with private
plunge pools or your rooms overlooking the river. Deliciously inviting lunch platters are served at Bada Ghar . If you prefer to eat in the privacy of your own
dwelling, platters will be delivered to your room or private river decks attached to your spacious Villas. Then indulge in an afternoon siesta, relax with a
good book or simply while away your afternoon listening to the rhythm of the flowing river.
Later, in the day you will be introduced to your expert
& Beyond trained naturalist, who will give you a full orientation of what to expect on your safari
drives into the jungle. You will then depart on your afternoon drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle through Chitwan's landscape - Sal forests, lush grasslands
and ox bow lakes. Witness the Indigenous and migrant species like Great Hornbill, Ruddy Shelduck, Pied Kingfisher and Red Headed Trogon. Stop to take in the
Indian sunset with a sundowner in the machan or watch tower built on the tiny island across the lodge.
Relish local Tharu Thali dinner in a Village
set up with local tribal dancers swaying to a heady beat.Head back to your abode for a peaceful night's sleep.The next morning, get a chance to see the
Rhinos and Gharials up close on an elephant back safari as your elephant strides past tall elephant grass . Later get drenched in the playful splashing of the
Rapti water as you bathe your elephant. A light lunch consisting of salads, continental or oriental specialities - Tibetan momos or steamed dumplings is
perfect as you spend the afternoon floating down the picturesque Rapti river, enjoying beautiful views of the Himalayan foothills and spot innumerable
rhinoceros, gharials and birdlife.
Dinner maybe served at the river view deck serving local barbeques -Rapti Kinara or chose a more intimate setting
with a dinner under a a canopy of Shimul trees adorned with bright red flowers and a hundred lanterns. Later pour over various books on wildlife, history of
Nepal or the great Himalayas at the lodge library over a cognac
The next morning wake up to the thrill of sighting a one horned rhinoceros ,Birds and
other animals from very close quarters on a Walking safaris, accompanied by our expert naturalists. Back at the lodge, experience an ayurvedic massage or enjoy
the cool waters of the infinity pool overlooking the lazy Rapti river before you head back to Kathmandu.
